Team information for the 2019 Ohio Smoked Meat and BBQ Festival 10/18-19 in Nelsonville, Ohio

Dear Competition Barbecue Team,

Thank you for entering the 2019 Ohio Smoked Meat and Barbecue Festival. The Nelsonville Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to sponsor this annual festival being held on October 18th and 19th on the historic Nelsonville Public Square.

The competition is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society. Your professional competitive BBQ team and teams from around the country will be competing in the following categories; chicken, pork ribs, pork and beef brisket. They will be competing for $7,000 in total cash prizes with the Grand Champion bringing home $2,500.

Judging will be held at the Nelsonville Elks Lodge located at 53 Rocky Boot Way.

  3. Bring an extension cord, electric adapters, a hose, and a hose “Y” connector.
  4. All teams and vendors must comply with the Ohio Fire Code.
    • A fire extinguisher (A or ABC) is required at the cooking site. It must have a current year inspection tag.
    • All LP fuel tanks in use or storage must be secured with cable or chain only.
  5. When occupying your assigned space, you must be completely within the space boundaries. This is especially important with spaces 13-17 and 20-24.

One week to go and our banner is up and BBQ and Steak Cook-Off entry is closed. There are 29 BBQ teams entered from the US and Canada. The Steak Cook-Off competition has 16 teams entered. Team information will be going out by Email this weekend but here are a few items we want to make sure everyone remembers.
